Kerridge Commercial Systems acquires EDP

13th August 2018

Kerridge Commercial Systems (KCS) is pleased to announce the acquisition of EDP, a company listed on The London Stock Exchange. EDP supplies sales analytics & CRM and ERP software, such as Vecta and Quantum, to merchants and other distributors. The K8 ERP solution, developed by KCS, is widely used in similar markets, where the company has over 40 years of experience and is a recognised thought leader in trading and management technology. Clearly the acquisition is a good fit for both businesses.

During the past eight years KCS has grown rapidly, both organically and through the acquisition of a number of businesses, to extend its geographical reach, add product capability and extend into adjacent vertical markets. The company now serves over 10,000 customers across Europe, South Africa and the United States.

By integrating the EDP business with KCS, all customers will be offered a more extensive product suite. KCS will also offer the Vecta CRM/BI product to its wider global customer base as a stand-alone product, as well as integrating it as a module within some of the KCS products. KCS will continue to service and support customers using EDP's Quantum, Merchant, Charisma, Esprit and The Business Programme products. Over time, KCS will offer alternative products (such as its core K8 ERP system) to EDP customers, as potential longer-term solutions.

Commenting on the acquisition, Ian Bendelow, Chief Executive Officer of KCS said, "The acquisition of EDP is a great opportunity to accelerate our strategy. It brings us greater presence in the UK and an increased platform for growth in our traditional markets. EDP is a high quality business with customer offerings that are highly complementary to KCS. We welcome EDP employees to the group and look forward to working with them."

Sir Michael Heller, Non-Executive Chairman of EDP said, "The EDP and KCS businesses have been good competitors for many years, addressing the needs of customers in the same vertical markets. Accordingly the EDP directors believe that KCS' activities provide a strong fit with those of EDP and that KCS is an appropriate partner to continue the development of the EDP business. The additional resources that KCS will bring will mean that it is well positioned and resourced to support EDP and the future growth of the EDP business."

When selecting finalists for the awards the four independent judges were looking for evidence of IT solutions that have transformed businesses. Organiser John Garratt said of the 2015 Awards: “There were many more entrants with a stronger software component this year and the quality of the projects being submitted has risen yet again”.

The Vecta submission for the ‘SaaS Solution of the Year’ was based on the experiences of Lindab UK a Vecta customer, who after having chosen the powerful Sales Analytics & CRM solution, confirmed that they immediately saw sales and performance increases and measured a 30% increase in productive sales activity in the UK by acting upon information that would not previously have been accessible."

Quantum VS – The Only Choice for Carter Engineering

20th August 2014

Peterborough based fastener stockists Carter Engineering Supplies Limited recently announced a significant step for the family run company as it chose Quantum VS as their next generation business solution to take the business forward.

Established in 1985, Carter Engineering carries one of the largest ranges of stainless steel fasteners, supplying the UK and Europe with a wide range of general fasteners, all of which are accredited with certified traceability & conformance.

Carter Engineering invested in a typical standard software package to help automate its processes and improve efficiency, however, as with many growing companies; the software didn't cater for some of their specific business needs. Looking to the future and following a review of the specialist marketplace, the team at Carter decided to upgrade to the Quantum VS Suite. In addition they recognised that EDP’s software on demand model would facilitate a reduction in overheads and at the same time 'future-proof' the business.

Managing Director Brian Carter said of their choice: "As a family-run company, it's natural and fitting that the younger generation are keen to leverage the clear benefits of technology, in order to progress the business. It became apparent that we needed a supplier that held the combination of the necessary expertise and service and I knew several EDP customers, many of whom are highly respected in our industry.

When we saw the Quantum VS business management solution, the company’s experience became very evident and whilst this is a considerable step for us, we are confident that with their support, our business processes will be vastly improved. The option of deploying Quantum VS under a Service Level Agreement was also a significant factor. As a small business, understanding and making decisions about technology can be a major challenge so it's comforting to know that we won't have to make large capital investments, or keep "second-guessing" how technology will develop and change. EDP's long term investment in their impressive Data Centre in Milton Keynes enables smaller companies like Carter Engineering to benefit from state of the art technology, at a very affordable price."

IT Europa, the leading European publisher of strategic market intelligence news and analysis, announces that EDP's VECTA Sales Intellgence CRM solution is a finalist in two categories within the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) section in the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2013.

The Awards recognise best practices in customer solutions by Systems Integrators, Solution VARs and ISVs across Europe. The winners will be announced at the European IT & Software Excellence 2013 Awards Dinner at the Lancaster London Hotel, on 13th March 2013.

These are the only pan European awards which recognise the crucial role that ISVs and Solution Providers play in the delivery of real world solutions, and attracted entries from 24 countries - double that of previous years.
